MARV ROSENBERG, Ph.D.
Goodies About Oldies
Memoirs of a One Hit Wonder
After being on tour for five years, Marv grew tired of the “life.” The romance of riding on a bus from city to city, trying to sleep sitting up, and being away from home ran its course. He quit the business and went back to college where he earned a Ph.D. in psychology. Dr. Rosenberg took his education in psychology and his talent for music and did a 20 year study on the effects of music on people. Since, he has continued to write songs and has produced many “oldies” shows throughout the years. To this day, the Safaris continue to do concerts performing their hit “Image of a Girl” and covering many other famous doo wop songs.
Being a One Hit Wonder gave Marv a unique empathy for entertainers. He became the California Chairman of the
National Music Foundation. This group was formed to raise money for a retirement home for artists in the music
industry. At present, Marv is Executive Director for Cashbox Magazine, a music industry magazine that charts hit
songs and has articles about the industry and artists.
